PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To fold an airbag for a passenger at a high speed and smoothly. SOLUTION: This folding apparatus 1 is provided with the first inflatable part folding means which forms the first inflatable part by folding a portion communicating with the opening 2a of an airbag 2 into a flat plate shape, the second inflatable part folding means 32 which forms the second inflatable part extending in two ways by folding a portion communicating with the first inflatable part into a flat plate shape, and an aggregate part folding means 40 which forms an aggregate by folding respective second inflatable parts into a wavy shape. The first inflatable part regulating plate, the second inflatable part regulating plate 38, and folding elements 72 coming into contact with the base cloth of the airbag 2 move together with the airbag 2 without a sliding contact with the base cloth. The aggregate part folding means 40 joints a plurality of folding elements 72 with a link means 71 and is driven by a drive means.
