PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate the bulge on the side faces of a flat square bar with a simple device and to unnecessitate to form a caliber for preventing overturn of the flat square bar on rolling rolls. SOLUTION: In a horizontal rolling mill for the flat square bar having at least not less than two stages of rolling rolls, a pair of guide rolls 3, 4 for eliminating the bulge of the side face which is generated on both side edges of the flat square bar are installed in the vicinity of the entrance of the flat square bar in the rolling rolls 1, 2 so as to be rotatable in the approximately perpendicular direction to the rolling rolls. Press rolls 5, 6 for suppressing twisting of the flat square bar are installed in the positions on opposite side of the rolling rolls 1, 2 to the guide roll 3, 4.
