PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a planar heat pipe by which a working liquid can be injected into a container without hindrance and the flowing out of the working liquid from the container can be prevented at the time of heating the container when a planar heat pipe in which no noncondensable gas is left is manufactured. SOLUTION: A noncondensable gas in the tubular swelled section 3 of a container 1 is retained in a gas retaining section 7 while the flowing out of a working liquid resulting from the bumping in a restriction section 6 is prevented by closing the working liquid inlet port 4 of the container after the working liquid is injected into the tuber swelled section 3 of the container 1 and evaporating the working liquid by heating the container 1. Thereafter, the noncondensable gas discharging port 5 of the container 1 is closed and, at the same time, the gas retaining section 7 is separated and removed from the container 1.
