LIGHT INTENSITY MODULATOR AND METHOD OF FABRICATING THE SAME

PURPOSE: A light intensity modulator is described, which can radiate a light wave to a substrate. CONSTITUTION: The photo-intensity modulator comprises a substrate of predetermined material, an optical wave guide formed in the substrate with a curve shape of a circular arc, and an electrode formed to be arranged on a top of the light wave guide. A refractive index is varied according to intensity of an electric field, and the light wave passing through a predetermined spot of the light wave guide is radiated to the substrate by the varied refractive index. Thereby, radiation loss characteristics of a light wave guide having a curve shape of a circular arc is used to attain great modulation depth with the only small variation of a refractive index.
