PURPOSE: A method for managing a system failure and a system state uses a modem without using a private line, effectively informs the system failure and the system state, and makes the operation know a state of a remote site. CONSTITUTION: A remote site informs a management station that the information is present in flash ROM. The remote site receives information transmitted from the management station. The remote site determines a received information from the management station. If the received information is a report request from the management station, the remote site informs an internal information and a flash ROM information. If the received information relates to a general failure and a state change report, the method determines whether a memory is present or not, and then stores the information to an internal memory. If there is no memory, the method tries a connection to an operation station. If the received information is an important failure and a state change report, the method informs an internal storage information, an important failure, and a state change.
