PURPOSE: A contact IC card terminal device and a method for controlling the same are provided to be used at various fields CONSTITUTION: The method for controlling a contact IC card terminal device comprises the steps of: confirming whether a contact point of the IC card is connected; supplying a power supply, a reset signal, and a clock signal to the IC card and connecting a communication terminal to the terminal device; stopping supplying a power supply, a clock, and I/O from a card interface(110) when the contact point of the IC card is not connected or a communication error arises, and feeding back all operations; after receiving the reset signal, receiving a signal from the IC card; setting a protocol necessary for transmission between the terminal device and the card in accordance with various information of the received signal; transmitting/receiving information necessary for an application between the terminal device and the IC card, converting analog/digital signals from a sensor to an amount of money, and updating data in an area of the IC card; and informing a user the amount of money through a display part(130) and outputting a signal for operating a cut-off equipment connected to an engine or a weighing machine.
