PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a facsimile adapter and a facsimile equipment for making an operator easily select facsimile transmission or transmission through the internet without changing already registered abbreviated dial setting. SOLUTION: A dial data comparison part 6 discriminates a code inputted to a user interface part 5. That is, when '#, #' or ' ' is added in front an abbreviated dial number, it is decided that an instruction is given so as to transmit the image data through the internet. When those codes are not added before the abbreviated dial number, it is decided that the instruction has been given for transmitting the image data through facsimile communication.
