PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a nickel hydrogen secondary battery superior in discharge characteristic at a low temperature of about -20 deg.C and positive electrode utilizing rate. SOLUTION: In the manufacture of a nickel hydrogen secondary battery provided with a positive electrode containing nickel hydroxide and a conductive agent consisting of at least one of cobalt and cobalt compound, and a negative electrode containing a hydrogen storage alloy, the battery is allowed to left standing for 1-8 hours after being assembled, and the charging quantity corresponding to 3-15% of the capacity of the negative electrode is preliminarily charged with a current exceeding 1.0C. |
