PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projection type display device which is miniaturized by surely thinning the entire device without being influenced by the thickness of a control circuit board itself. SOLUTION: In this projection type display device 1, a main board 12 is erected nearly perpendicularly to a plane regulated by the optical axis of an optical unit 10 on the side of the unit 10. Therefore, the up-and-down dimension of the board 12 is designed small, consequently the up-and-down dimension of the device that is, the thickness of the device 1 is made small. Therefore, the entire device 1 is surely thinned regardless of the thickness of the board 12 and is miniaturized differently from the conventional device where the board 12 is arranged above the unit 10.
