PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a discharge lamp lighting device never causing the electromagnetic wave interference associated with the surface of current and voltage without loosing heat in a power source circuit and excellent in operating property of relighting. SOLUTION: This discharge lamp lighting device is provided with a rectifier 2, a switching circuit 3 having a semiconductor element, which is connected to the rectifier 2, a DC power supplying circuit 4 having rectifying circuits 6, 7 connected to the switching circuit 3, and a smoothing circuit 9, and a discharge lamp connected to the latter stage of the smoothing circuit 9 and a starter 20. The starter 20 is provided with a high voltage generating smoothing capacitor 26. A serial connection circuit 29 of a switching element 27 and a resistor 28, which is conducted at a prescribed voltage or more, is provided between the smoothing capacitor 26 and the discharge lamp 12, and a second capacitor 13 is provided in parallel to the discharge lamp 12. |
