PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a telephone system provided with at least a telephone handset and at least a first automatic telephone responder and provided with a means for enabling a user to easily access his/her own automatic telephone responder. SOLUTION: In this telephone system, handsets HS1, HS2 and HS3 based on a DECT standards are connected to a base station 2 which is connected to a public telephone exchange 3 or directly connected to the exchange 3 by radio. The base station and the exchange are individually provided with a voice mail box. In order to access the voice mail box, the handset is provided with a button, the voice mail box 30 provided in the base station or a voice mail box 55 provided in the telephone exchange are checked by the button, and it can be applied to a DECT system.
