The key-operated switching device has a switch (16) and a lock cylinder (7) with a locking nose (18) cooperating with the switch. The lock cylinder is fitted in a reception opening (21) of a lock ring (3), secured to an installation plug socket (2) via a fixing and fitted with a front cover which is blocked against relative rotation.
