<p>A video signal reproducing device for decoding and reproducing a coded video signal hierarchical along the space axis, wherein when the header in the received data in the demodulated data obtained by demodulating input transmitted data is decoded, if the identification data representing that the input signal is only one video signal bit stream is recorded in a predetermined position in the header, the video signal bit stream is outputted to a high-resolution high-efficiency decoder and not to a low-resolution high-efficiency decoder, and the output of the high-resolution high-efficiency decoder is used as the video signal, whereby not only a video signal coded by a hierarchical coding method but a video signal coded by a non-hierarchical coding method can be simultaneously reproduced.</p> |
