In the control of a sliding closure, esp. a triple plate sliding closure, an automatic control processor sets the slide plate in a choked position for regulating the melt filling state of a mould and, during interrupted filling state regulation, completes an automatically controlled opening stroke in which the slide plate regulating edge is changed to an opposite choked position in the sliding closure flow channel. The novelty is that at least the choked position (D1 or D2), assumed by the slide plate (5) after an edge change (23), is assigned by an edge change operation controller programmed by the filling state regulating processor.
