PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively absorb impact energy at the time of secondary collision in structure to facilitate part control and assembly work. SOLUTION: A stopper plate 21 to be fixed on a steering column 2 to prevent push-up of a steering wheel at the time of primary collision and an energy absorbing member 23 to absorb impact energy at the time of secondary collision are integrally made of one metallic sheet. Width of this energy absorbing member 23 becomes larger backward. Forward displacement of the steering column 2 is allowed while handling the energy absorbing member 23 by both inside surfaces of a recessed part provided on a mounting plate part 15 constituting a support bracket 3a at the time of secondary collision. |
