PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an organic low-molecular-weight cholesteric liquid crystal compound, its production and a heat-sensitive recording medium that can attain high-speed full-color display. SOLUTION: This cholesteric liquid crystal compound is represented by the following formula: This novel cholesteric liquid crystal compound is produced by the condensation reaction of a dicarboxylic acid derivative with a cholesterol, or by the reaction of a dicarboxylic halide with a cholesterol. The objective reversible thermal-sensitive recording medium is obtained by intervening the liquid crystal compound singly or a mixture thereof between the base layer and the transparent protecting layer.
