PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To smoothly move the fork of a forklift to a lateral direction in view of an operator without requiring great labor for adjustment of a mounting position. SOLUTION: A moving device 6 for a fork 1 is constructed by a rectangular frame 9 supported near the lower end of a vertical portion 1a as the base of a fork 1 by a leg material 8 pivotally mounted by a pin 7 and a roller 11 axially supported by the shaft 10 of the frame 9. Pivotal mounting between the leg material 8 and the frame 9 is allowed by the pin 14. When the fork 1 is to be moved to a lateral direction in view of an operator, the moving device 6 is rotationally moved from a non-operation position shown by a broken line to an operation position shown by a solid line, whereby the roller 11 bears at least part of the weight of the fork 1 so that the fork 1 can be easily moved to the lateral direction with the rolling of the roller 11.
