PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable to produce silylacetylene compound without using a basic metal oxide catalyst requiring a cocatalyst and troubles for activation by reacting a specific silyl compound with a specific ethynyl compound using a typical metal element as a catalyst. SOLUTION: This production of a silicon-containing compound is to react (A) a compound of the formula: R4-m-SiHm [R is a (halogen, OH, amino, carboxyl or ether residue-containing) 1-30C alkyl, alkenyl, alkyl or aromatic residue; (m) is 1-4] with (B) a compound of the formula: R1-C≡CH (R1 is H or R) in the presence of (C) a typical metal element (e.g. the activated fine particulate material of a typical element metal of the 1st or 2nd in the periodic table) and obtain a compound of the formula (1<=i<=m). The reaction is preferably carried out by using 0.0001-200 mol of the ingredient C to 100 mol of the ingredient B. |
