PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely perform ignition to a lean premixed mixture in the ignition timing. SOLUTION: A lean premixed mixture is formed by injecting 95% fuel from a main fuel valve 5 in an early period of a compression stroke, the rest of 5% fuel is jetted from an igniting fuel valve 7 in a sub-chamber 15 in a stroke moving a piston 2 to the top dead center, to perform combustion by self ignition. Since a flame thereof is spreaded in a cylinder 1 from a restriction part 15a, to ignite the lean premixed mixture in the cylinder 1, and perform premixed combustion ignition to the premixed mixture is surely ignited at the beginning of the ignition.
