PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To record an image matching to the size and type of recording sheet easily by providing means for detecting at least one of the size of a plurality of types of recording sheet or the type of ink cassette and modifying an edition screen being presented on a display means based on the detection results. SOLUTION: A printer is set with a seal paper of standard size coated with adhesive and being pasted by peeling a part thereof. When n ink cassette for seal paper of A6 is set, for example, detection results from a recording sheet size sensor 52 and an ink cassette sensor 51 are fed to a control section 54. A menu of the number of sheets of print, multiple screens, title sentence, image quality, and the like, is then presented on an edition screen at a monitor display section 57. In this regard, items selectable based on the detection results from the sensors 51, 52 are displayed by solid lines or inverted characters and other items are displayed by dashed lines so that they can not be selected.
