PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To convert a chair bed from a bed to chair or a chair to bed by almost one touch by equipping a grip on a axis pivotally combined with a frame and forming a dent part facing the grip to make the grip easily gripped for bringing up the axis. SOLUTION: An axis 33 to rotatably combine an up/down frame 2 and an intermediate frame 5 constitutes a thick lateral axis extended across almost the whole width of frame 2, 5. A grip 31 is equipped at about the central part in the axis direction of the axis 33. Cut-off hollow parts 35, 36 facing the grip 34 are formed on a mat 8 on the up/down frame 2 and a mat 10 on the intermediate frame 5 respectively to enable an attendant to insert a hand into the hollow parts 35, 36 to grip the grip 34. When a fixed lock condition of the up/down frame 2 is released and the grip 34 is gripped, the axis 33 is brought up to fold the intermediate frame 5 and the up.down frame 2 in s chevron shape.
