PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily and highly efficiently separate or concentrate not only a solid in a solid-liquid mixed phase fluid regardless of its specific gravity but also a solid having a particle size sufficiently small to pass through a filter or the like without using a filter, a liquid cylone or a Coanda nozzle having a narrow gap. SOLUTION: Within a pipeline 4 having a large diameter cylinder 8 provided thereto on the downstream side thereof, the swirl flow of a solid-liquid mixed phase fluid is formed on the upstream side of the pipeline 4 by a large diameter cylinder 2 and a gradually contracted pipe 3 and, by the withdrawing pipe 5 provided on the downstream side of the position where the swirl flow is formed and opened to the interior of the pipeline on the upstream side of the downstream large diameter cylinder 8 toward the upstream side, the fluid in the vicinity of the axial center of the swirl flow is withdrawn and also withdrawn from the vicinity of the inner wall of the downstream large diameter cylinder 8.
