SAFETY DEVICE FOR SHIP'S PROPELLER SHAFT SEALS

FIELD: shipbuilding; safety devices of propeller shaft seals. SUBSTANCE: safety device includes at least two circular seals to protect shaft against outside water and lubricant. Circular chamber formed between these two circular seals is connected with compressed air supply pipe line and discharge passage communicated with bilge by means of electromagnetic valve which periodically opens and closes. Pressure in circular chamber is maintained below outside water pressure and lubricant pressure by means of pressure control member. Supply pipe line running to circular chamber is provided with electromagnetic valve fitted below pressure control member, airtight reservoir with float valve being located below it. In case of choking of discharge passage, float switch closes electromagnetic valve, thus protecting pressure control member and other against filling. EFFECT: enhanced reliability. 6 cl, 1 dwg
