FIELD: acoustic information transmission and storage, in particular, for digital communication, radio and TV equipment, telephone equipment, digital sound recording and playback. SUBSTANCE: method involves filtration, which involves selection of set filter and filters coefficients storage device. Before and after filtration, method involves compressing of dynamic range of input signal and signal after optimal filtration, respectively. Device for selection of shapes and shapes storage device provides selection of parameters of shapes of signal produced after second compression of dynamic range. In this conversion, numbers of sets of coefficients of filters and parameters of shapes are most close to given set of stored similar sound information. Transmission through communication channels to decoder contains compression rates of dynamic range, numbers of sets of filters coefficients and shape parameters, which determine volume of compressed information. EFFECT: elimination of acoustic information redundancy (information compression) in order to decrease required throughput capacity of communication channel (memory required for storage of sound information) and to keep possibility of adaptation to specific type of acoustic signal, for example, male or female voice, symphonic music, etc, when compression rate is guaranteed to belong within wide range; improved quality of playback signal which is output by such device. 2 cl, 3 dwg
