PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To contrive the miniaturization of a disk device by the moving range of a head carriage. SOLUTION: The head carriage 18 is provided with an engaging pin 61 on a projecting part 60 on the left side surface of the carriage main body for engaging with a lead screw 24 and bearing parts 62, 63 on the right side surface of the carriage main body 21 for fitting to a guide shaft 23 so as to be capable of sliding. The guide shaft 23 is formed extendedly up to the position where the one end 23a is confronted with the lower surface of a magnetic disk 64 mounted on a turntable 15. By this arrangement, the whole lengths of the carriage main body of the head carriage 18 and a head arm are shortened since the position guided by the guide shaft 23 is extended to the center side of the disk in the head carriage 18. Thus, the moving range of the head carriage 18 is shifted to the center direction of the magnetic disk 64, thereby the miniaturization is attained.
