Automatic guidance of motor vehicles with sensing of driver taking control to switch out automatic control

The automatic guidance system has a reversion to manual control module (7) which monitors the actions of the driver by sensing the difference between angle of the steering wheel and the guidance set value for steering wheel angle, and delivers a binary signal to a supervisor (21). The supervisor then determines whether to switch out the automatic guidance and return control to the driver.
