PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a front fork which can show specified cushion performance within specified stroke area during compression operation irrespective of descending speed of an inner tube, prevent application of intensive repulsion to the inner tube at the changeover time from compression to extention motion, and always provide an automobile satisfactory driving feeling. SOLUTION: An inner tube 2 is slidably inserted into an outer tube 1. A damper cylinder 3 is stood at a center portion of a bottom of the outer tube 1. A piston rod 5 is movably inserted into the damper cylinder 3 through a piston. An upper end of the piston rod 5 is connected to the inner tube 2. In such a front fork, a check valve is vertically movably arranged on an inner periphery of a lower portion of the inner tube 2. An oil port lever along the damper cylinder 3 and a cushion rubber 11 are paralley stood at the bottom of the outer tube 1. The check valve is fitted to an outer periphery of the oil port lever near the maximum compression point. The lower end of the inner tube 2 is elastically abutted against the cushion rubber 11 at the maximum compression point of time.
