PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an organic electroluminescent element having an improved luminous efficiency by using a film made from a polymeric compound having a specified weight-average molecular weight in terms of the polystyrene. SOLUTION: A solvent solution of a hole-transporting high-molecular or low-molecular compound for a hole transport layer is applied to a transparent substrate with a vapor-deposited anode and is then dried to form a hole transport layer. Next, a solvent solution containing a fluorescent substance and a polymeric compound represented by the formula (wherein R1 to R6 are each H, F, cyano, an alkyl, an alkoxyl, an alkylthio, or an amino, aryl, aryloxy, or heterocyclic compound group which may have such substituent; Ar1 to Ar4 are each an arylene or heterocyclic compound group which may be substituted; m is 0-5; and X1 and X2 are each O and having a weight-average molecular weight of 1,000-5,000,000 (in terms of the polystyrene as measured by gel permeation chromatography) is applied to the hole transport layer and then dried to form an electron transport layer. Next, a cathode is vapor-deposited on the electron transport layer to obtain an organic electroluminescent element.
