PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce lowering of performance level due to carbon dioxide and to enable use of a battery for a long time by adding a carbon dioxide absorbent to an air electrode. SOLUTION: Because carbon dioxide infiltrating through an air hole 8a of an air electrode 5 is absorbed by a carbon dioxide absorbent 10, lowering of electrolyte can be prevented. Therefore, an air zinc battery which is superior in a preserving characteristic in an opened state can be obtained. It is preferable that calcium inorganic compound be used as carbon dioxide absorbent 10 and this carbon dioxide absorbent 10 is added to the entire of the air electrode 5. At adding, metal oxide, graphite, activated carbon and fluorine-based binding agent are sufficiently mixed by using water or organic solvent at first. Subsequently, calcium inorganic compound is added, and dispersion is performed. More specifically, manganese oxide as metal oxide, ketjen black as graphite, coconut shell activated carbon as activated carbon, PTFE as fluorine-based binding agent and calcium oxide as carbon dioxide absorbent 10 are illustrated. |
