An organic electroluminescent display (1) comprises a transparent substrate on which are formed a positive electrode (2) consisting of a transparent conductive material, and a negative electrode (3) consisting of conductive metal and an organic layer that can be multilayered. The organic electroluminescent display (1) and a resistor (5) are electrically connected to form a series circuit. The series circuit is connected to a DC power source (4).
