APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR TRANSMITTING/RECEIVING UPLINK PILOT IN FREQUENCY DIVISION MULTIPLE ACCESS SYSTEM

An apparatus and a method for transmitting an uplink pilot in a frequency division multiple access system is provided to obtain excellent channel estimation performance even in the situation where a channel suffers fast variation due to high moving velocity. A bit-to-constellation mapper(511) generates data symbols. A pilot sequence generator(512) generates pilot symbols. A selector(514) selects the data symbol or the pilot symbol in every slot interval of one time slot. The time slot has at least two pilot symbol intervals. A frequency division multiplexing signal generator maps the pilot symbols to different frequencies in at least two pilot symbol intervals included in the time slot.
