The vibratory compactor implement has a housing with a ventilation inlet (14) with an upwardly open inlet section (18). A valve (16) has a first section (20) depending into the opening, but with a smaller cross section than it. A second larger section (26) has a shoulder (24) supported over the opening, so that the valve can move between open and closed positions.
