The laser device has a structure (60) in the light path of a laser for transmitting light of the laser wavelength and providing a phase variation which is dependent on the coordinates (x,y) perpendicular to the light propagation direction. A focussing optical system (68) lies on the input side of this structure and a second optical system (70) lies on its output side for providing a parallel output beam, the structure displaced perpendicular to the light beam via an electric motor (74).
