A stapling head for staples on a backing tape has a supply reel for the tape and stapes and with a guide roller pressed onto the back of the tape feed to separate the tape and feed it to a take up reel (16). The guide roller is fitted to a pivot mounted cover (8) to swing between an operating position (20) and an inoperative one (21). A locking catch (23) holds the cover in the closed position and ensures that the guide roller is aligned onto the back of the tape feed.
