摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten the bypassing time by previously setting a bypass, to eliminate the useless bands by securing a bypass band in a switching mode and accordingly to set plural bypasses. SOLUTION: An active path 17 is set by an initial ATM switch 10 via the ATM switches 11 and 12 to secure a band for a terminal ATM switch 13. Then a bypass 18 passing via a relay switch 14 and a bypass 19 passing via the relay switches 15 and 16 are set. The bands are not secured on the bypasses 18 and 19, and the information on these bypasses are held on a routing information table of a controller 1a of the switch 10. If a fault occurs on the path 17 or at a repeating installation, an optimum path that can be secured by the switch 10 is set. Under such conditions, the fault states of the path 17 and bypasses 18 and 19 and also the remaining bands of these bypasses are always monitored to enable the switch 10 to perform its optimum selection. Then the routing information table of the controller 1a is updated.
