PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an orthogonal type gas laser oscillator with high efficiency by reducing the effects of a gain distribution caused by the nonuniformity of the flow rate of the laser medium gas between discharge electrodes. SOLUTION: In an orthogonal-type gas laser oscillator 1, discharge electrodes 3 and 5 are arranged facing opposite with each other, a laser medium gas flows between them orthogonally, and the discharge direction, the gas flow direction, and the optical-axis direction orthogonally cross one another. In the gas laser oscillator 1, the change in a gain distribution due to the change in the flow rate of a laser medium gas flowing through the discharge electrodes 3 and 5 depending on the position is eliminated, and one portion of the discharge electrodes 3 and 5 is constituted at an optical path position for constituting a laser resonator so as to change the direction of gas flow to coincide with the position for oscillating with the highest efficiency. |
