PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect a pedestrian with high reliability. SOLUTION: A Fresnel lens 11 and a pyroelectric infrared sensor 12 are combined to constitute an infrared detection part 13, and this infrared detection part 13 is attached to the body of an automobile, and radiant infrared rays from an object in the front of the infrared sensor 12 are detected through the Fresnel lens 11. A signal processing part 15 is operated only while a stop detection signal is inputted from a stop detection part 14 which detects the stop state of user's vehicle, and the output signal of the infrared sensor 12 is processed by the signal processing part 15 to discriminate whether the object is a pedestrian or not; and if it is discriminated that the object is a pedestrian, the existence of pedestrian in the periphery is reported to a driver or the like by a report part 16. |
