PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a discriminating apparatus by a video signal, capable of discriminating whether the size of particles to be discriminated is large without using labor and without generating discrimination errors and which is high in reliability. SOLUTION: An imaging means taking in an image to be discriminated, a separation means 4 for separating the frequency component of an image signal into high and low region components, a conversion means 5 for converting the high and low region components to DC signals corresponding to the levels of the respective components and a comparison means 6 for comparing whether the respective DC signals are a predetermined level or higher to discriminate whether the size of particles to be discriminated is large, middle or small are provided. A preference circuit 7 for preferentially selecting a larger particle to be discriminated from among the output of a comparison means is preferably provided. |
