FOAMED THERMOPLASTIC FILM MADE FROM BIODEGRADABLE MATERIALS

The invention relates to a biodegradable and compostable semifinished product, moulded material or moulded article made from a foamed, cellular material having thermoplastic properties and which can therefore be further processed by means of hot shaping. The inventive semifinished product is obtained by introducing gaseous, low-boil pressurized expanding agents into the molten material and subsequent foaming process. The semifinished product can then be thermoplastically processed and used in multiple ways. Other advantages of the foamed moulded material and article are that they are biodegradable, compostable and have a low density that can result in considerable cost savings.
