A material (I) for the differential modification of optical activities of different cells, is new and comprises a mixture of a base material (Ia) and a modification material (Ib). (Ia) is a viscose fluid, a gel, a flat or three-dimensional porous substrate or an in situ, hard material containing a film forming material. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) an applicator (II) in the form of a syringe for applying (I) under pressure; and (2) a device (III) for detecting the optical activities of the different cells.
