The bulk material wagon(1) in the opened or unopened state is overdrawn by a mobile and flexible cover, is thawed by thermal conduction, and corresponding to the degree of thawing can be emptied by gravity. Steam, hot gases, infrared rays, microwaves and/or electrical energy is used as the heat medium. The thermal conduction is carried out by simple flow around the wagon and/or as a recirculation process. An Independent claim is included for a system for thawing of bulk material conveyed in saddle bottom wagons which is equipped with the aforementioned cover.
