The present invention relates to a lid (3) intended for closing a vessel (1), wherein said lid includes an electronic unit (18) that comprises a memory (21), an indicator (9), a sensor (17) for detecting any penetration into the vessel (1) without removing the lid therefrom, as well as a plurality of various other members. Due to the above-mentioned elements, the lid acquires new functions which are determined by the preliminary recording (36) of data related to the product stored in said vessel (1). These functions may include the visual (38) and acoustic (39) indication of the product remaining shelf-life, the prevention (46) of any penetration into the vessel without removing or unscrewing its lid (3), or the organisation of a lottery game which involves generating (51, 52) a random number in the electronic unit (18) and displaying said number, e.g., on the own indicator (9) of the lid once said lid has been removed from the vessel (1). The conversion (42-53) of data about the product can further be carried out while accounting for the storage conditions of said product.
