A support for a computer monitor which incorporates a flat panel display screen comprises an adjustable height column (11) formed by telescopically arranged inner and outer tubes (28, 29) which are linked via a counterbalancing gas strut (14). The support has locking means (16) for retaining the column at an adjusted height position and the sliding between the tubes is facilitated by skid pads (24) and also by wheels (82) carried by spring loaded bogies (71) secured to the inner tube, engaging in longitudinal grooves (34) in the inner surfaces of the outer tube. Hinge arm assemblies (12) at opposite sides of the outer tube are adapted to be connected to a carrier (13) custom designed for mounting a specific form of flat panel monitor, such that the monitor can be tilted relative to the column.
