Printing press roller with an ink-receptive coating

The roller is used as an ink friction roller. The coating (3) is applied by thermic spraying and has a pref. thickness of 0.1 mm. The coating has a pref. surface roughness of R2 = 8 micrometres. It is a physical vapour deposition layer, an electron radiation vaporised layer, a chemical vapour deposition layer, or a plasma-supported chemical vapour deposition layer. The coating can be applied by a galvanic process, a diffusion coating process, a sinter process, a hot isostatic process, by explosive plating, or by a reactive process using conversion from either two fluid phases or two gas phases. After the coating process, the surface is ground and polished.
