PRINTED MATTER HALFTONE DOT STRIKING EVALUATION DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for giving clues to adjust the balance of an ink amount and a water amount by evaluating and interpreting a halftone dot striking state on a printed matter. SOLUTION: A brightness is measured along the optional cross section of an optional halftone dot on a printed matter, and the width Y of the halftone dot and the projection and recess Z of the surface of the halftone dot are sought based on the variations of the brightness measured along the optional cross section. Further the width X of a reference halftone dot is sought based on the variations of the brightness when it is measured along the same cross section as the described cross section of the reference halftone dot stored beforehand. The striking of the described halftone dot is evaluated and interpreted based on the degree of the dot striking calculated by a halftone dot striking degree formula: |X-Y|+aZ when (a) is assumed as a constant, as the function of the printed matter halftone dot striking evaluation device.
