PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture a low crystalline or amorphous olefin polymer with high activity and effectiveness by (co-)polymerizing olefins in such a condition that a liq. phase in which a polymerization catalyst comprising a transition metal compd. is dissolved and the olefins are soluble is dispersed in a liq. phase in which the polymerization catalyst and the product polymer are essentially incompatible. SOLUTION: As the olefins, ethylene and 3-20Cα-olefins are pref. As the solvent for a liq. phase (A) in which the polymerization catalyst comprising the transition metal compd. is dissolved and the olefins are soluble, an arom. hydrocarbon, and an aliphatic saturated hydrocarbon are pref., and especially toluene, hexane, octane, and decane are pref. As the solvent for constructing the liq. phase (B) in which the polymerization catalyst and the product polymer are essentially incompatible, a fluorine contg. org. compd. such as perfluoroheptane, or the like are pref. The volume ratio of liq. phase A/liq. phase B is pref. at 1/500-2/1.
