A collapsible basket-type article carrier (2) has end walls (40, 42, 50, 52) joined at the ends of opposing side walls (20, 30). A portion of each side wall is cut-away to form bands (21, 25, 31, 35) for engaging articles. Riser panels (60, 62, 70, 72) extend inwardly of the end walls (40, 42, 50, 52). The corner (22, 24, 32, 34) formed at each intersection of the side and end walls is bevelled. The corner tab (26, 36) formed at each intersection of a band (25, 35) and a side wall is bevelled. Support tabs (41, 43, 51, 53) join either the riser panels or end walls to the bottom wall (10, 12) of the carrier. In collapsed condition the carrier has shearable nick members (29, 39) strategically located on cut lines at the bevelled corner tabs.
