PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain fine water resistive fastness and wet adhesiveness of images by applying a solution including a hardening agent onto a pigment ink image printed on a gelatin recording element. SOLUTION: An image is formed on a gelatin-containing ink receptor layer by adhering ink for pigment ink jet. Following this, a solution containing a hardening agent is applied on the image. For such a suitable hardening agent, there are given a compound containing formaldehyde and two or more aldehyde functions, a compound containing a blocked aldehyde functional group, a compound containing an active olefinic functional group, or the like. The hardening agent can be applied in both the image region and nonimage region; moreover, whose coating quantity can be controlled correctly independent of a coating quantity of ink, so that it is more advantageous than by a method where a hardening agent is included in ink. As such, a printed image exhibits excellent water resistive fastness and wet adhesiveness over the whole part thereof. |
