PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a lightweight and thin metal fiber sheet scarcely fraying metal fibers, hardly rusting, excellent in electromagnetic wave shielding effects and handleability and useful for electronic equipment, etc., by preparing a nonwoven fabric from the metal fibers, bringing the resultant nonwoven fabric into contact with an emulsion and then drying the prepared nonwoven fabric. SOLUTION: This metal fiber sheet is obtained by preparing a nonwoven fabric from metal fibers such as stainless steel prepared by a coiled material cutting method (having preferably <=50 μm fiber diameter), bringing the nonwoven fabric into contact with an emulsion such as a polyvinyl acetate emulsion, then drying and treating the resultant nonwoven fabric by hot pressing. In the obtained metal fiber sheet, a part or all of the metal fibers are mutually brought into contact and parts around the contact points and/or a part or all of the surfaces of the metal fibers are covered with the resin. The metal fiber sheet preferably comprises 1-99.9 wt.% of the metal fibers and 99-0.1 wt.% of the resin and an electromagnetic wave shielding material is preferably produced by using the resultant metal fiber sheet. |
