The cooling channel piston, in an internal combustion motor, has a cast ring carrier (4) and a tubular unit (6) at the carrier to define the cooling channel (10). It is open at the radial outer side towards the carrier (4) and, seen in cross section, has two free legs (20,22) to be fitted on to the carrier (4). The tubular unit (6) is in arc segments, as seen in cross section. The ring carrier (4) is chamfered radially inwards at the transit from the upper and lower sides (12,14) towards the inner side (8) of the cooling channel (10). Upper and lower laying surfaces are shaped at the tubular unit (6) to give a durable butt joint at the end sides of the upper and lower legs (20,22).
